The US presidential election, that is. It seems to have been going on forever, but apparently it's only been 20 or 21 months. But that's nearly 2 years!! And something like a billion dollars has been spent.
I wondered for a moment just how the tv news presenters and newspaper editors would find anything to fill their time slots/pages, but then I realised that there will be speculation about who will fill the important posts, then facts about the post holders, then speculation about what they will do, and before we know where we are, the whole process will start all over again.
"...and before we know where we are, the whole process will start all over again."
ReplyDeleteAbout the beginning of February is when I figure we'll start hearing rumblings. Elections in the U.S. are a major recession-proof industry. It seems like we're always voting about something.

Isn't that what they call "democracy"?
ReplyDeleteYeah, well most of the time it's about democracy. It's those occasions when an item is too hot for the politicians and they pass the buck to the electorate that irk me. I mean our initiative process is a good thing, except when the folks we're electing to make decisions don't make the decisions and take forever not making them.
ReplyDeleteI think what really bothers me is that almost every campaign takes what seems like a lifetime and a lot of money that could easily be better used elsewhere.

Well, now it is over. We know the results. Yet there's more to come so it is like waiting for the other shoe to drop.
